Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and asked Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first. Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill gave a steady start of 53 runs. Gill got out off Rashid Khan bowling and after that Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi took the charge and kept smashing Hyderabad bowlers. Both the batsmen brought up their respective fifties and set the plat form for a big score but in the end they lost a few wickets and eventually finished on 187/6 in 20 overs. Nitish Rana played 80 runs knock while Tripathi scored 53 runs.
In reply Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very poor start as they lost their openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha cheaply. Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow rebuilt the innings and their 92 runs partnership set the match for a tight finish but Pat Cummins broke this stand by removing Bairstow for 55 runs. Manish Pandey, Mohammad Nabi and Abdul Samad played some big shots in the end but Hyderabad fell short of the target by 10 runs.
