Young Indian seamer Prasidh Krishna is going through his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The 27-year-old sustained a lumbar spine injury during the Zimbabwe tour in 2022 which has kept him out of action for over a year. The Karnataka-born seamer has impressive numbers in his short ODI career so far having 25 wickets to his name from 14 matches at an average of 23.92 and an economy of 5.32.
“I’m not someone who gets excited or nervous about anything. I take it in a balanced way. As fast bowlers, you sign up for injuries, you sign up for hard-working days, you sign up for long days… all that is a part of our game. I mean, it’s not easy when everybody is playing a lot of cricket. There’s so much happening and you’re sitting at home not really being available for selection, but I was optimistic,” Krishna told ESPNCricinfo.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently gave an update on Krishna’s fitness and stated that the fast bowler is in the final stages of his rehab. The Medical Team is pleased with his progress and will make a final decision after assessing him following the practice games.
Having missed out on an opportunity to be in contention for the ODI World Cup 2023 squad, Krishna will be eager to make it to the T20 World Cup 2024 squad post his recovery.
