The officials of a New T20 league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are working with League Officials of Australia (BBL) and South Africa (CSAT20) to avoid clash between the schedule of their competitions, as reported by Reuters.
In Terms of player compensation, the UAE International League T20 (ILT20) will be world’s second most lucrative league after Indian Premier League.(IPL)
However the other three league are also clashing with UAE ILT20.
Australia’s Big Bash League which is Scheduled to start from 13th December, South Africa also comes up with their New T20 League which is yet to named but likely to start in January 2023 and Bangladesh Premier League is also clashing with UAE ILT20.
Mubashshir Usmani, general secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), said the Jan. 6 to Feb. 12 window for the tournament had been selected because it presented “optimal playing conditions in the UAE”.
“While this window suits our purpose, we are closely working with different boards toward minimising date clashes,” he added.
Australia Cricket board is also very much concerned about the money offered by UAE Board to Australian Players to play in their league.
In order to keep their best players for Big Bash League which is scheduled to start from December 13 to February 12, has been negotiating with them.
Recently Australian Batter Chris Lynn named in the Marquee Players list released by UAE ILT20 but Cricket Australia might be not giving him the No Objection Certificate to participate in the league.
“We are working with Cricket Australia, in fact we are in touch with all the relevant cricket boards, to minimise any major clashes,” Usmani said.
“We do want Australian as well as any other available players to involved with the league.”
Kieron Pollard, Nicholls Pooran, Dwayne Bravo, Alex Hales, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer and Trent Boult are some big named who are signed to play UAE ILT20.
Usmani said: The franchises had given the authority to sign foreign players on their own.
“Our team has been working alongside players, players’ agents and various boards to seek. And secure the necessary approvals for those identified to participate in the league’s inaugural edition,” he said.
There are nine overseas players allow in the playing XI by UAE ILT20 officials and there must be 2 local players in the XI
Usmani said that UAE ILT20 is a unique league because it gave Players form UAE and other countries an unparalleled experience.
IPL Franchises like Mumbai Indians (MIEmirates), Kolkata Knight Riders (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) and Delhi Capitals (Dubai Capitas) have bought teams in UAE ILT20.
