India white-ball captain and Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma who has been ruled out of the forthcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa is set to make a comeback for the 3-match ODI series against the Proteas team.
On Monday, evening it was affirmed by the BCCI that Rohit Sharma has endured a serious hamstring injury and he has been ruled out of the Test tour to South Africa and Priyank Panchal who recently led India ‘A’ in the South Africa shadow tour has replaced the senior opening batsman in the squad. The BCCI in an official statement said:
“Team India Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session here in Mumbai yesterday. He has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa. Priyank Panchal will replace Rohit Sharma in the Test squad.”

Meanwhile, during the training session on Sunday Raghavendra, who is one of the most experienced throwdown specialists in the scene bowled a rising delivery that struck Rohit’s gloves hard and he was seen in pain after the blow.
Meanwhile, it was not the hand injury that has ruled him out of the Test series against South Africa and it was a hamstring injury that was of serious nature, however, according to TOI that injury is not a tear and the senior opening batsman will be fit and available in three weeks and will be leading the team in the ODI series.
