In preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, BCCI appointed Paddy Upton as Fitness and Mental Conditioning Coach of Team India for a brief contract.
Upton, who was a member of the support staff for the Indian side that won the 2011 World Cup after 28 years. He will join the ODI squad beginning with third match against the West Indies on 27th July at Port of Spain. He will be with Team India until the end of the T20 WC 2022 in Australia.
“Excited and privileged to be back in TeamIndia colours, working alongside long time colleague, friend and Head Coach Rahul Dravid. Much of our journey was thanks to @rajasthanroyals,” Upton said in a tweet.
Paddy Upton has collaborated with Rahul Dravid at Rajasthan Royals and also with other few number of IPL teams.
Paddy Upton was reinstated in the national team lineup on 26th July.
A Senior BCCI source had told to PTI:
“It is a short-term arrangement for a period of four months,”
