New Zealand have announced a 15-member squad led by Mitchell Santner to face India in three T20Is in January-February. Left-arm pacer Ben Lister has earned a maiden call-up in the squad.
Leg-spinning all-rounder Michael Rippon has returned to the setup after his debut against Scotland, while the touring party also includes all-rounder Henry Shipley, who only recently made his international debut, in the first ODI of the ongoing series against Pakistan.
Regular Skipper Kane Williamson and Tim Southee rested for the series.
“Mitch is a leader in our white ball teams and has captained the T20 side in India before. His experience in Indian conditions will be invaluable leading this group,” chief selector Gavin Larsen said of Santner.
“We all felt for Ben after his tour ended the way it did last year, and it’s a testament to his work ethic that he’s been able to return to domestic cricket so strongly this season.”
New Zealand will face India in three ODIs and three T20Is, The T20Is will be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Ahmedabad on January 27, 29 and February 1.
