MI vs RCB: Devdutt Padikkal to play IPL 2021 opener? Here’s official update

Devdutt Padikkal is a talented youngster and plays for Karnataka in the domestic circuit.  He is an opener for the team, but his infection with Covid-19, will not let him participate in the first game against the defending champions side Mumbai Indians. He for sure will be brought back into the playing XI, as he is a fierce opener, and will be a good batsman to pair up with Virat at the top. He scored 473 runs for RCB in the IPL 2020 and was the second-highest run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.

Devdutt Paddikal tested Negative

Padikkal has tested negative, after almost two weeks of contracting it and fighting it, it is a good news for RCB. He will be able to join the RCB squad, after taking couple more tests and a chest scan, which eventually will satisfy the bio-bubble protocols and lead a safe way for the rest of the team.

It is said that Paddikal has to pass a cardiac screening test before joining the team camp. The BCCI’S SOP states, “After recovery (from COVID-19), players must undergo a cardiac screening before resuming any team activities”. After this test, he will join the team in the nets and is set to miss the opening IPL 2021 game.

Mike Hesson has already said that Devdutt Paddikal will be opening for the team alongside Virat Kohli this season.

IPL 2021: Which 4 overseas players can be part of RCB Playing XI?

Ab de Villiers– Often called Mr.360, he has been the most consistent overseas player for the RCB team over the years in middle-order.

Glenn Maxwell– The all-rounder has been in good form in the international series and BBL leading up to this season.

Dan Christian– The experienced T20 player helped the Sydney Sixers to lift the BBL trophy this year with contributions in both departments.

Kyle Jamieson– The consistent wicket-taker across all formats in this year can be chosen ahead of Kane Richardson.
