Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made great use of the Decision Review System (DRS) to effect the dismissal of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener, KL Rahul, during their game at the DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing 182, LSG was shocked early in the powerplay when Josh Hazlewood expelled both Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey with fabulous Test match line and lengths. They required a big knock from Rahul to remain ahead in the chase.
Within the 8th over of the innings, Harshal Patel bowled a safe delivery down the leg-side which KL Rahul looked to look it away in order to churn a boundary. But he couldn’t get the specified touch on the ball which went to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. In any case, it appeared as if a portion of his bat or glove touched the ball indeed as Karthik was not sure at all.
But given that it was KL Rahul, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis decided to take a chance and went for the review. The snickometer proved that the ball had brushed the LSG skipper’s gloves on its way to the keeper. As soon as it was confirmed the big screen, Virat Kohli let out a huge roar celebrating the crucial wicket. Faf was standing close to the 33-year-old also hugged him in delight as the game had suddenly turned towards RCB.
