Josh Hazlewood Replacement: Jason Behrendorff roped in as replacement by CSK for IPL 2021

Jason Behrendorff replaces Josh Hazlewood: In the recent development, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally roped in Jason Behrendorff as replacement for Josh Hazlewood for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Earlier, Aussie pacer Hazlewood pulled out of the tournament due to the bio-bubble fatigue. Chennai Super Kings will kickstart their IPL 2021 campaign against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 in Mumbai.

Jason Behrendorff replaces Josh Hazlewood

This will be the second IPL stint for Jason Behrendorff after having played 5 matches for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019. For Australia, the left-arm pacer has played 11 ODIs and 7 T20Is picking 16 and 7 wickets respectively. Behrendorff also did well for the Perth Scorchers in the recent Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21 season. He will be joining the likes of Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Lungi Ngidi, Deepak Chahar and Dwayne Bravo in the CSK fast bowling department for IPL 2021.

After Josh Philippe (RCB) and Mitchell Marsh (SRH), Hazlewood was the third Aussie cricketer to pull out of IPL 2021 right before the start due to the same bubble fatigue reason.

IPL 2021 Match Day

In the tournament opener, the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will be taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai later in the blockbuster Match Day. However, it will be a really difficult task for the CSK team management to pick their four overseas players in the starting XI for the first game against DC. They have their whole lot of options in Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, Jason Behrendorff, Moeen Ali and Mitchell Santner while Lungi Ngidi will not be available for the first match. The combo of Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis look to be the starters for the two overseas slots with Moeen Ali and Dwayne Bravo likely to be preferred.
