Senior Bowler of Indian Cricket Team Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back issue.
The injury will take some time to recover and BCCI will not take any risk with Jasprit Bumrah as he is main Bowler of the Team and Management wants him fit before T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia in October.
The squad for Asia Cup 2022 is expected to announce on 8th August Monday, but BCCI is yet to announce the squad.
“Jasprit Bumrah has a back injury and will not play in the Asia Cup. He is our main bowler and we would like him to be back in action before the T20 World Cup. We can’t risk him in the Asia Cup and the injury could aggravate,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
Jasprit Bumrah last played an ODI series against England for Team India after that he has been rested for white ball series against West Indies and also for Zimbabwe Tour.
The injury will take some time to recover and before playing white ball series against Australia and South Africa which is scheduled to play in September -October at home, He will need to complete his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Benguluru.
Similar problems plagued Bumrah a few years earlier, and he was out for an extended period of time.
The pacer is currently on vacation in America with his family.
This will be a very big blow for Team India and there will be no valuable replacement for Jasprit Bumrah as there is no one like Bumrah, but BCCI might take a decision on including Senior Pacer Mahommad Shami in the Squad. Shami improved alot in the T20 in the past years and could be a possible replacement for Jasprit Bumrah.
