The Women’s Premier League’s inaugural edition is being followed worldwide as several women cricketers have lit up the competition with their scintillating performances.
Sharing his thoughts on the tournament, Sachin Tendulkar congratulated BCCI for the great initiative and asked fans to support women cricketers as they’re doing an excellent job.
“Fantastic; first of all, a big-big congratulations to BCCI because this is a great initiative. As I said, the first innings were played well by BCCI, and now second innings, we have to support women cricketers. I think they’re doing a magnificent job,” Tendulkar said at the India Today Conclave 2023.
“I’m really, really impressed by the fielding standards, their athleticism; it has just blown my mind; it’s incredible. It’s fast, exciting, and good cricket should always be encouraged. They’re fiercely competitive; it’s just the beginning. I really want to congratulate all the teams and women cricketers who’ve turned up here. This is the beginning of something big, not just for India but cricket,” the legendary cricketer added.
Tendulkar wants one extra fielder outside the ring in WPL
“Again, one fielder is extra inside the ring; they play with five fielders inside the ring. I would’ve four fielders inside the ring, so the a fair balance between the bat and the ball because, anyways, in this format, batters are looking to score runs, looking play big shots. That extra fielder outside the ring is only fair to a bowler,” he said.
