The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was host to RCB vs PBKS on Monday (25th March). The match between the two teams took at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and it saw a magnificent effort from both the teams.
Punjab Kings were asked to bat first and they had a poor start to their innings. Jonny Bairstow’s poor run against Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued as he bagged another failure and was back in the hut for 8 runs off 6 balls.
After that skipper, Shikhar Dhawan (45) and Prabhsimran Singh (25) counter-attacked the opposition bowlers and added 55 runs for the second wicket. But the wicket of Prabhsimran saw Punjab getting under pressure and losing wickets at regular intervals.
Liam Livingstone (17) and Sam Curran (23) perished after making decent contributions. But after that, Jitesh Sharma (27) and Shashank Singh (21*) played a brutal cameo that turned the momentum in Punjab’s favor. Their innings powered the Punjab Kings to a total of 176/6.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept losing wickets at regular intervals and came under pressure. But Virat Kohli with his 77-run knock kept his team in the hunt. He played some incredible shots in his innings but after he got out the home team came under a lot of pressure.
Dinesh Karthik (28*) and Mahipal Lomror (17*) produced a magnificent effort in the end and lifted the crowd up. The keeper-batter finished the game for his team as Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their first win of the season by 4 wickets.

Rajasthan Royals retained the top spot at the points table after the RCB vs PBKS game. Chennai Super Kings held the second position along with Gujarat Titans in 3rd. Kolkata Knight Riders are 4th. RCB after the win climbed to the 6th table whereas Punjab Kings was dropped to the 5th spot. The rest of the teams are yet to register to win.
