Mumbai Indians (MI) paid 15.25 crores for Ishan Kishan in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He was the most expensive player in the mega auction, with Mumbai forking out a lot of money to get the wicketkeeper-batsman. On March 28, the franchise will face the Delhi Capitals in the first game of the season.
Head coach Mahela Jayawardene and captain Rohit Sharma held a news conference ahead of the team’s to begin with game, where they examined a few viewpoints of their preparations. Rohit was the first to uncover that Ishan will start the batting alongside him in their first match.
Mahela Jayawardene Mumbai Indians Coach Addresses Ishan Kishan
“I think it is something that the player, coach and the franchise need to control. We need to create a suitable environment for everyone to perform. It’s nothing to do with Ishan or any other player at what price he was bought at the auction, as it is not in their control.” Mahela Jayawardene said.
He further added .“He [Kishan] is a wicketkeeper-batter, and having someone like him at the top-order is rare, especially in franchise cricket. So, given all that and how he could balance the team, many other factors played a part. So, I don’t personally think Ishan will feel that pressure.”
The opener will be Rohit Sharma. I’m looking forward to opening with Ishan Kishan since he’s done it before. Surya is currently at the NCA. He is making a good recovery. He’ll be here in no time. He is unable to provide you with his availability at this time, including whether or not he will be present for the first game. However, once we have clearance from NCA, they are working to get him here as soon as possible.
