Day 1 of the auction has seen some high-octane bidding from various franchises.
The mega auction for the upcoming IPL 2022 got underway today (February 12) in Bengaluru and the whole cricketing world was on the edge of their seats. While some of them were the players who were are versed with the dynamics of IPL, others were the fans who were keen to know whether their favorite players would be brought back by their previous franchises or whether they would find a new team for the upcoming season.
In the mean time, Day 1 of the sell off saw a few high-octane offering from different franchises. Whereas the eight exisiting sides were permitted to hold a greatest of fair four players, the two new franchises – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat – picked 3 players each from the draft. The sell off has seen a few truly high priced offers and shocking reprimands as well.

Mumbai Indians- the most successful side in the competition’s history, have won the title five times. Headed by their skipper Rohit Sharma, the franchise entered the auctions with an available purse of INR 48 crore. Mumbai Indians retained their captain Rohit Sharma for Rs 16 crore while they paid Rs 12 crore for Jasprit Bumrah and INR 8 crore for Suyrakumr Yadav and INR 6 crore for Kieron Pollard.
