Sanjay Manjrekar feels Ravindra Jadeja should bat ahead of MS Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the second leg of the IPL 2021. Dhoni-led CSK will play Mumbai Indians on Sunday in Dubai.
The second leg of the IPL 2021 will get underway with the blockbuster fixture between CSK and MI at the Dubai International Stadium. Speaking in the build-up to the mouth-watering meeting between the two title favourites, ex-cricketer Manjrekar feels CSK will stick to their ploy of sending Jadeja out to bat ahead of skipper Dhoni. With Sam Curran and Moeen Ali playing crucial roles in CSK’s resurgence this season, Manjrekar has observed a change in the batting approach of the three-time champions.
The left-handed Jadeja was in scintillating form in the first leg of the 2021 IPL. In one of the games against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, he laid into Harshal Patel, who leaked 37 runs in the last over of CSK’s innings.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, here is what Sanjay Manjrekar had to say about CSK:
“Jadeja should bat ahead of MS Dhoni. I think so (CSK will do well) because their approach has changed and Moeen Ali and Sam Curran have become impact players so they should perform better than the last time we saw them in UAE.”
Manjrekar also selected the overseas players for CSK and MI ahead of IPL’s ‘El Clasico’ encounter at the Dubai International Stadium. “I think Moeen Ali, they should get both their fast bowlers in Hazlewood and Lungi Ngidi. And if there is a little bit of turn, Imran Tahir,” Manjrekar added. Dhoni-led CSK had recorded their worst-ever finish in the IPL last season. Since then, CSK have managed to bounce back quite remarkably as Dhoni’s men are placed second in the current league standings.
