Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has finally revealed the reason for Shan Masood’s appointment as Pakistan’s vice-captain for the last home series against New Zealand which was played back in January this year. Shan was given the job against the Kiwis instead of all-rounder Shadab Khan, although the choice was criticized by current and former players.
Sethi stated that appointing the captain and vice-captain was entirely up to him. He also stated that he made the decision after discussing it with others as well.
“The decision to appoint the captain and his vice-captain is my discretion. I had some things going on in my mind, and I had also consulted some people in this regard. I thought of trying Shan Masood as a vice-captain to test his ability,” Sethi was quoted as saying by the Pakistan Observer.
