Star Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner Sai Kishore has said that the young batting sensation Sai Sudharsan is absolutely mad about doing practice and taking his game to the next level.
Sai Kishore also opined that Sai Sudharsan doesn’t have any fear of the big stage or being in the spotlight and backed him to shine for India National Cricket Team in Test cricket.
Sai Sudharsan – The Next Big Thing?
The 23-year-old left-handed batsman Sai Sudharsan is unarguably one of the most talented cricketers in the world at the moment.
He emerged as a star performer for Tamil Nadu in the post-COVID era, and after a breakout season in the Tamil Nadu Premier League [TNPL], he was fast-tracked into the teams across formats of his state.
He caught the eyeballs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) scouts and was roped in by the Gujarat Titans (GT) for INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Sudharsan had a decent start to his stint, and he gradually improved his performances. He was retained by the Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he repaid their faith by winning the Orange Cap in the recently concluded season.
He slammed 759 runs in 15 matches at an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17, and won several awards during the Indian Premier League 2025 final presentation ceremony.
Sudharsan has already got his India ODI and T20I caps and is highly likely to make his Test debut on the England tour as the selection committee and the team management have been highly impressed with him.
Sai Su is someone who is religious about his nets and practice – Sai Kishore
Sai Sudharsan’s Tamil Nadu skipper and GT teammate, Sai Kishore, said he is amused by the 23-year-old’s drive to get better and added that he has learnt a lot of things from the youngster.
“Sai Su is someone who is religious about his nets and practice. How do I put it? He’s mad about practice and there is no room for complacency at all – something that we spoke about even after the IPL ended,” Kishore was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“That drive to keep getting better is the most amusing thing about him. To do this at 23, the sky is the limit for him. I might be a senior to him in terms of age and all, but I’ve learnt a lot from him.”
Sai Su has no stage fright – Sai Kishore
Kishore further said that Sai Sudharsan shows no anxiety when he is on a grand stage, as he is a mentally strong and supremely talented cricketer. The star GT spinner also backed the left-handed batter to shine bright in whites for India.
“Sai Su has no stage fright. He made his IPL debut before he made his first-class debut. Be it TNPL [Tamil Nadu Premier League], TN, county, IPL or India, he was never taken aback by the situation or by the atmosphere. You come across a lot of skilful players, but they may not have the right mindset. Sai Su is supremely skilled and mentally strong, which is quite a rare combination.”
