The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the upcoming bilateral series against Sri Lanka which is scheduled to start on January 3, 2023.
There will be six games in thé tour, three are T20IS and three are ODIs.
Hardik Pandya will lead the T20I side with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, who earned big bucks at the IPL Auction 2023 have earned a call-up and will be a part of the T20I squad. Regular skipper Rohit Sharma out of the setup due to his thumb injury, and KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have also been rested.
Rohit Sharma will be back to lead the team in the ODIs, and Hardik Pandya appointed as New vice captain of the Team, KL Rahul removed. It hasn’t been clarified if Rishabh Pant has been rested or dropped as he doesn’t feature in any of the squads. Ishan Kishan has been named in both the squad after his record breaking double century.
Shikhar Dhawan dropped from the ODI squad after his poor performance in Bangladesh series.
