The matches are slated to take place on March 8, 10 and 11.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday, March 2 announced the schedule and shared the details of the upcoming Women’s exhibition matches slated to be played on March 8, 10 and 11 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. They have also announced the name of the teams – Amazons and Super Women but are yet to announce the squads.
“I am thrilled and excited that the exhibition matches for the Women’s League are taking place. These exhibition matches provide an exposure to our players to exhibit their talent and play at their best. When you play a league with foreign players it provides the local players an opportunity to know about their skill level and it also motivate the players to improve their game,” she said in a PCB release.
“The three exhibition matches on 8,10 and 11 March are also played with a message which relates to the women across the country. This will go a long way to empower our women, not only as cricketers but will provide them a platform and with an opportunity other than playing cricket,” Tania said.
Meanwhile, PCB has appointed Shozab Raza and Humaira Farah as the two officials for the second match while Tariq Rasheed and Saleema Imtiaz will be the on-field umpires in the third match. Expressing her joy in officiating the match, Humaira said that she feels honoured and believes that it will help women’s cricket in the long run.
“I feel really honoured to officiate exhibition matches of the Women’s League. These matches will not only help the women cricketers to express themselves on the field, but it will provide us with an opportunity to further enhance our skills. This will go a long way in encouraging more women to come in this game as a player and as an official,” she said.
