Kohli scored 45 runs before getting out.
Former India captain Virat Kohli couldn’t make it huge within the first innings of his 100th Test match. Sri Lanka spinner Lasith Embuldeniya conveyed a peach to thump off his off-stump whereas batting on 45. Kohli had looked in incredible touch until at that point but was obviously stunned after the ball turned violently. The wicket came against the run of play and obviously everybody was astounded counting India captain Rohit Sharma.
Kohli and Hanuma Vihari had added 90 runs for the third wicket without much fuss until then. At one stage, it seemed as if the 33-year-old will end his century drought on the day before Embuldeniya spoiled all the plans. It was a quicker and flatter delivery from the left-arm spinner to which Kohli went on the backfoot. But he certainly didn’t account for the turn and was castled eventually.
India captain Rohit Sharma was enjoying the action from the dressing room until then. But the dismissal of his predecessor certainly shocked him as well and was disappointed too. A video of his reaction has gone viral now on social media.
