Delhi Capitals are all set to face a massive blow for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in Australian media, it is learned that fast bowler Mitchell Starc is unlikely to return to India for the league, which will resume this week.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended for one week after the tensions between India and Pakistan flared up. This made BCCI take immediate action, and the league was postponed after 58 games had taken place with utmost ease.
IPL 2025 might resume on the 17th or 18th of May
However, now, with India and Pakistan calling a ceasefire, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to resume the league. As per several reports, it is learned that the IPL 2025 might resume on the 17th or 18th of May, with the final to be played on the 30th of May.
Although there isn’t any official confirmation, it is learned that BCCI at the backend has told all the franchises to call back their foreign players by Tuesday. Notably, the overseas players rushed back home after the match between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was called off in between the first innings.
Now, with the league all set to resume, several sections of reports have suggested that foreign players might not return. One of the players who is expected not to come is Delhi Capitals pacer Mitchell Starc, who played a key role for the team in the 12 games that the franchise played.
Mitchell Starc’s manager hints that the pacer may not return to the IPL due to the conflict
The reports in Australian media claimed that Mitchell Starc touched down in Sydney on Sunday and declined to speak to the media. However, his manager categorically, in a conversation with 9News, said that the pacer may not return to the IPL due to the conflict.
Not only this, Australian media reported that some of the Australian stars will join Mitchell Starc in not returning to the league. This can be because of the tough time they had, and also the fact that the ICC World Test Championship final is around the corner.
