New Zealand thrashes Pakistan in the final
However, Pakistan failed to live up to the expectations, as the Black Caps won the Tri-nation ODI series final by five wickets to head into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 full of confidence.
After Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan opted to bat first on a challenging pitch, they were dismissed for 243. Rizwan himself was the top scorer for the Men in Green with 46 runs.
Defending the target, Naseem Shah provided an early breakthrough with the new ball, but New Zealand gained control as Kane Williamson (34), Devon Conway (48), Daryl Mitchell (57), and Tom Latham (56) guided the Kiwis to an easy win with 28 balls to spare.
Both teams will now face each other in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener in Karachi on February 19. Notably, India and Pakistan will take on each other in the blockbuster clash on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Kohli has recently struck fifty against England and he would love to continue his form in the upcoming prestigious tournament.
