Indian Captain in the ODI series against South Africa, KL Rahul, opened up about whether Sanju Samson will get the opportunity in the upcoming series. He mentioned that the keeper-batter will be batting in the middle order and at some point might even keep wickets.
Sanju Samson’s inconsistent opportunities despite performing well could well bring out the best in him in the upcoming series. There were a lot of speculations ahead of the series if he would be playing in the three games or not. However, skipper KL Rahul gave good news to fans and confirmed that he will be in the XI.
KL Rahul while talking about the team combination revealed that he will be keeping the wickets and Sanju Samson will play as a batter in middle order. Speaking to reporters, he explained:
“Sanju will bat in the middle order. That is the role he has played whenever he has played ODI cricket. He will bat at No. 5 or 6. For now, I am going to keep wickets, but if there is an opportunity for him in that role, he will definitely at some point in the series.”

Indian captain KL Rahul also confirmed that Rinku Singh will be making his debut in the series against South Africa. He praised the young batter for his exceptional performances in the tournament. He explained:
“He has shown what a good player he is. We all knew how skilled he is having watched him in the IPL, but what has been really good to see has been the temperament he has shown in the T20I series, and the game awareness and calmness under pressure. It was refreshing to see. He has performed well across formats in domestic cricket, so yes he will get his opportunity.”
