Former Australian player Brad Haddin shared valuable advice to all-rounder Cameron Green. He suggested that the lanky cricketer needs to make some sacrifices to continue peaking in Test cricket.
Cameron Green has been one of the best things that has happened to Australia in Test cricket. His presence has allowed the Pat Cummins-led side to find the perfect balance and combination. It’s fair to say that he has played a major role in the team’s success of late.
Cameron Green has contributed equally well with bat and ball in Test cricket. The all-rounder is touted as the next big thing in Australian cricket but one of the things that has been concerning is the amount of cricket that he plays.
Apart from Australian cricket, Cameron Green plays in the IPL. He played in IPL 2023 and now has been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore, which was the highest trade in the history of the league. He will be earning 17.5 crores.
Brad Haddin said that Cameron Green should look at Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, who skipped the IPL to prioritize Test cricket. He admitted that IPL is great learning but to continue peaking he needs to manage his workload. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he explained:
“If you look at the three fast bowlers (Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc) they have had periods where they have sat out of IPL and prioritized Test cricket and that’s something at times Cameron Green might have to do depending on his workload. I know IPL is a great way to keep learning, but if the workload gets too big, he will have to make some sacrifices to keep peaking in Test cricket.”
