Bangladesh women scripted history on Sunday, July 16, as they beat India women in the first-ever ODI played between the two teams by 40 runs. After being put in to bat first, Bangladesh were bundled out for 152 in 43 overs. In reply, India were dismissed for just 113 with seamer Marufa Akter picking 4/29 in seven overs.
“Well, we were looking at at least 200 plus because the wicket was keeping low, there were no demons on the wicket The wicket played really well. Unfortunately, our batters faltered and were short by 50-60 runs. I think there are a few loose ends that we need to tighten up before the second one,” Tillakaratne was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“The girls were excited (after the win) but I told them we have not done our job yet. We know if we can play good cricket we will move one step and it will be a huge achievement for us. So far I have held them from celebrating as I feel we still have few things left to achieve. If we can win the series we will celebrate I guess,” Sultana said.
