Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 56 runs in the 38th match of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, April 28 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Cricket Stadium. After being invited to bat first, LSG set a mammoth 258-run target for the hosts, thanks to fifties from Kyle Mayers and Marcus Stoinis. Notably, this was the second-highest total in the history of the cash-rich league.
After LSG scored the highest total of the ongoing IPL season, pacer Yash Thakur reckoned that the team had the confidence and belief to post a huge total from the start of the game.
“We have to adjust our shots according to the pitches provided in Lucknow and outside. Our team has the belief from the start to bat well, but I did not think that we would hit one of the highest totals in the Indian Premier League. We feel that we have been playing well,” Thakur said in the post-match press conference as quoted by India Today.
We played according to the pitch: Yash Thakur
“We cannot get the same conditions everywhere. We played according to the pitch. In Lucknow, the pitch is not easy to bat on. The two players in the middle order decided what the best score was on the pitch and they played like that,” Thakur added.
